Announcing RI President Gordon McInally’s Royal Edinburgh – Million Dollar Weekend - In Scotland

We are pleased to announce a unique fundraising initiative for The Rotary Foundation that will launch November 1st – just in time for Rotary Foundation Month.  RI President-elect Gordon McInally invites up to ten donors who make qualifying gifts* to The Rotary Foundation to join him in Scotland in August 2023 for the Royal Edinburgh – TRF Million Dollar Weekend.  Donors who make an outright gift to The Rotary Foundation of US$100,000 or more, or a bequest commitment of US$250,000 or more, will have the opportunity to register to attend – at no cost to Rotary – a specially curated experience hosted by Gordon and Heather McInally in their home country of Scotland.
The provisional program for the weekend features:
  • Private dinner in Edinburgh Castle
  • VIP reserved seating at the world-renowned Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo on Friday, 18 August 2023
  • Private breakfast and tour on board the former Royal Yacht Britannia
  • Access to a block of rooms at a 5-Star hotel in Edinburgh
  • Tour of the Palace of Holyroodhouse, official residence in Scotland of HM King Charles III
  • Optional side trips, such as a round of golf with Rotary Senior Leaders at St. Andrews Old Course, lunch at the world-famous Gleneagles Hotel, and a tour of Ardbeg Distillery in Islay, home of Island Malt Whiskies
Tickets for the Royal Edinburgh are limited to ten couples, with qualifying* donors reserving their space by paying a deposit to the local Rotary organizing committee.  The estimated cost for the experience is being finalized and will be shared once the price is determined.  In addition, attendees will be responsible for arranging and paying themselves all other expenses related to their travel, accommodations, and meals.
*Qualifying gifts will include the following:
·      Outright gifts of US$100,000+ or bequests of US$250,000+
·      Gifts received by TRF after 1 November 2022
·      Gifts can be made from anywhere in the world
·      Gifts can be from an individual, couple, corporation, or foundation
·      Gifts designated for any program or grant type, any Area of Focus, the Annual Fund, the Endowment, PolioPlus, and Rotary Peace Centers – or split amongst them
